Adath Israel is home for a diverse congregation on Conservative Jews in the western suburbs of Philadelphia.  We are and ever evolving community of people committed to a shared vision of common values and heritage, community, and life long learning.  Tuv Ha'Aretz coordinators, Lynn Gottlieb and Sue Carson see Tuv Ha'Aretz as way of attracting adults and families who are interested in healthy and responsible lifestyle choices connected to Jewish identity.  Our inspiration for this project began when members of our congregation along with our Rabbi Steve Wernick cycled 300 miles on the Hazon Israel Ride from Jerusalem to Eilat.  We continued the journey to Hazon's Food Conference at Isabella Friedman  and Asilomar where we learned about the great work Hazon was doing to connect Jews to the land thru Tuv Ha'Aretz.  We are very excited to begin our "TUV" this year and connect our members with healthy ways to eat, learn and to strengthen our community.

Adath Israel partners with Lancaster Fresh Farm -  a cooperative of 22 farmers in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.  The cooperative is made up of Amish and Mennonite farmers who take great pride in building their soil to produce healthy plants, animals and people.  The produce  is certified organic.

Lancaster Farm Fresh
Organic Farmer's Cooperative

Lancaster Farm Fresh (LFF) is an organic farmers’ cooperative of 20 farmers. The members are old order Amish and Mennonite, living on small family-owned farms in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The cooperative formally came together as Lancaster Farm Fresh for the 2006 growing season.

Since May, 2006 LFF has been supplying freshly-harvested, certified organic produce and pasture-raised dairy, meat, and poultry products to restaurants, natural food stores, and households in the Philadelphia and Lancaster metropolitan areas. The experienced Amish and Mennonite farmers who make up the Cooperative are dedicated to building healthy soil for healthy plants, animals and people.

Two members of Lancaster Farm Fresh, David Fogarty-Harnish of Scarecrow Hill Farm, and Henry Stoltzfus of Farmdale Organics, operated CSA programs serving members in Philadelphia since 1999 and 2001 respectively. In addition to these experienced CSA farmers, Lancaster Farm Fresh is supported by experienced farmers and new farmers, alike, who are new to the CSA model of marketing their produce.
