Solidarity Bike Ride – Boston Cycles in Support of Israel Boston again demonstrated it's solidarity with Israel early Sunday morning, as over 50 bike riders participated in a 35 mile “Israel Solidarity” ride, starting from the JCC in Newton. Riders braved the early morning thundershowers and came from throughout the region to participate in the event. They were greeted by a welcome break in the storms, a beautiful ride to and from Walden Pond, and a number of well wishers along the route and at the pond. The organizers of the ride, David Eisenberg and Howie Rodenstein, decided on the idea earlier in the week and initially limited the invitation to friends from the Pan-Mass Challenge or The Israel Ride. From there, word of the ride spread throughout the community. Both of the organizers received a flood of e-mails, showing support for the ride and, for many, expressing regret that they were unable to participate this time. Said David and Howie, “this was Boston's first Israel Solidarity Bike Ride, but it won't be the last”. |
