Hazon CSA – Houston
Site: JCC Houston
Farm: Home Sweet Farm
Contact: Jennifer Handy
Rabbi Eve Ben-Ora first heard about the Hazon CSA program at the 2005 Arava Institute Hazon Israel Ride. She thought the Hazon CSA might “fill a gap in the community between their connection to Judaism and connection to land.” Rabbi Eve left JCC Houston at the end of the 2006 season for a new position in San Francisco. The wonderful Jennifer Handy, Arts and Culture Program Coordinator and a Hazon CSA member, now coordinates the Hazon CSA program.
As one of the first CSAs in the Houston area, the Hazon CSA program is also helping to spearhead the local and organic food movement in the broader community. JCC Houston partners with Home Sweet Farm, which provides Hazon CSA members with delicious, organic vegetables.
