Hazon CSA – Lancaster
Site: Temple Beth El
Farm: Lancaster Farm Fresh
Contact: Adrea
The summer of 2008 was the first season for Temple Beth El’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program in Lancaster, PA. Surrounded by farmland, it seemed a shame not to reap the benefits of the local harvest through a CSA. Adrea Mehl has been the driving force behind starting a CSA through Temple Beth El as a way of building community and further expressing Jewish values and traditions. Beth El is partnering with Lancaster Farm Fresh, a cooperative of over 30 organic farms in Lancaster County, the same farm cooperative that the Tuv Ha’Aretz, Philly (at Congregation Kol Ami), is using.
