Fees and Fundraising
Participants pay a registration fee and commit to a minimum fundraising level. Participants cover their own transportation expenses to fly to Israel and transfer costs. The Israel Ride covers all costs in Israel including hotels, food, and ride support.

Scholarships are available!
We have a limited number of scholarships available for riders who are under 35 or who have not been to Israel in over 10 years (or never). Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis, so apply now.
Cancellation Policy
The Israel Ride registration fee is non-refundable and not tax deductible. There is no refund for arriving late or leaving a trip early. Additional fees (i.e. bike rentals) are considered part of your registration fee and will only be refunded if we can cancel that booking with our outside vendors. If you cancel, your registration fee will be treated as a donation.
Donations are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another rider. If you cancel, you can roll over your fundraising dollars for your participation in the following year’s ride. If you cancel immediately before or leave during a ride, you may be responsible for some of the costs incurred (up to $1800). Please note that you can only roll over for the subsequent year.
Fundraising Minimums
Participants are required to achieve their minimum fundraising commitment one week before the Ride, by October 23, 2012. If a rider has not achieved the minimum fundraising requirement by October 23rd, we will charge the remaining balance onto the credit card used at registration. You can continue to fundraise until December 31st, and can either earn incentives for surpassing your goal, or we can refund charges to your credit card if funds are later raised.
Each rider will receive a personal fundraising website to track donations and we offer a wonderful array of gifts for Riders who exceed their fundraising minimum. We encourage you to increase your fundraising goal on your personal web page past your required minimum – please note that we do not require you to fundraise to your stated goal, only to the minimum listed above. In 2011, the average rider raised $4600.
Additional Costs
Direct costs of the ride are covered by your registration fee and approximately 50% of your fundraising. This includes:
- seven hotel stays
- three full meals a day (all kosher)
- water and snacks at supported rest stops on the route
- full ride support including lead riders, police and security, medical personnel, accompanying vehicles
- transportation of all of your luggage
Additional costs that you are responsible include:
- your flight to Israel and transportation to Jerusalem
- any hotel stays before the Tuesday night of the ride (you can book at our hotel)
- costs of rental bikes, single room upgrades, or to bring guests on the Ride
- tips for the ride crew who provide luggage transport and on-road support for the week ($100 suggested)
- incidental costs incurred during hotel stays, including internet, massages and alcoholic beverages
- purchase of Israel Ride merchandise for during the Ride as well as various opportunities to shop
Families
Family groups are encouraged to join the Ride. The Israel Ride provides a special opportunity for family bonding and the three riding groups allows for flexibility within family groups. Sometimes raising sponsorship can be a challenge for family members who have the same pool of sponsors to draw from. Therefore, if two or more immediate family members are registered to ride, second and subsequent members are only required to raise a minimum of $3000.
In order to qualify as a “second family member” you must register with a $3600 fundraising family member. If you are unclear if you qualify as a second family member, please call Hazon at 212 644 2332 x302. Family members can include unmarried partners. If you are not family members, this is not the registration category you should use.
