2011 Shabbat Schedule

Weekend Retreat and 2-Day Ride

The Hazon New York Ride is more than a bike ride, it is a four-day event that includes a Shabbat retreat, a 2-day Ride and so much more. It all begins on Friday afternoon at Camp Kinder Ring, where we hold our Shabbat retreat. During the retreat you can enjoy yoga, hiking, study, swimming, sessions on the work of Hazon and our partners, spirited prayer services, and delicious, communal Shabbat meals. All food during the retreat and on the Ride is kosher, and we strive to serve food that is local and organic.

On Sunday we ride to the new Eden Village Camp with route options of 30, 50, 75, and 100 miles. We conclude on Monday with a ride into New York City of either 30 or 60 miles.

Participants of all backgrounds, ages, and riding levels

You do not need to be an experienced or athletic rider to do the Ride! Each year, new riders have joined us and have had a wonderful experience. The Hazon community is diverse, with riders of all skill levels from across the Northeast, aged 12 and up.

If you don’t want to ride, we also need about 75 people to be on Crew – to drive, mark the route, cheer, set up rest stops, provide medical support, massage therapists and more. Family members and kids who are not riding are encouraged to register for “Ruach Crew.” They do more cheering and less work but are still fully part of the Ride and have an amazing time.

An affordable vacation for the whole family

Fundraising

All participants (riders and crew) have a fundraising minimum which must be completed by October 31st. The proceeds go to support Hazon and other programs that share our mission. All participants receive a personal fundraising page online to use as a portal for soliciting donors. You can use this page to send emails to prospective donors and track donations. This fundraising is an essential part of our ability to grow programs and support Jewish, environmental projects in the US and Israel.
