2011 New York Ride Grant Process
Hazon Bike Rides have raised over 1.5 million dollars in the past ten years. Proceeds from the 2011 Hazon New York Ride will help fund Hazon’s innovative food, transportation and sustainability programs. Additionally, Hazon is honored to offer grants to organizations and projects in line with Hazon’s mission. You can view a full list of the 82 organizations who have received grants from past Hazon rides.
Mini-Grant Selection Process
A committee of NY Ride leadership and top fundraisers will select 5-7 meaningful and interesting projects or organizations that will support growth of Hazon, and continue to support the growth the Jewish environmental movement in North America and Israel. Organizations should complete this brief application by April 29.
The NY Ride mini-grant allocations process is for environmental projects/organizations from east of the Mississippi River and Israel. Projects west of the Mississippi will be encouraged to apply to the 2012 California Ride.

Projects must focus on any of the following:
- Connection between Judaism and the environment
- Transportation alternatives
- Encouraging cycling
- Climate change
- Sustainable food
- Farming and gardening
Any group applying must be prepared to:
- Send a representative to the NY Ride to ride or crew.
- Send out three emails about the NY Ride to people on your email mailing list. We will provide you with a discount code.
The applications will be read and scored by our committee in May. The winners will be contacted and announced by May 31.
All recipients of a Hazon Mini-Grant must agree to:
- Send a representative to the NY Ride to ride or crew. Register their representative by June 15 or they will be eliminated as a finalist
- Send out one dedicated email about the NY Ride to people on your email mailing list. We will provide you with a discount code
- Send out information to email list 3 other times. Extend a special invitation to the organization’s board and staff to
participate in the Ride - Utilize social media to encourage people to go to the Hazon website
- Provide a photo and blurb about their organization and project for the Rider Pack and Hazon website
- Post a link on their website homepage to the NY Ride homepage
September 3-6 At the New York Ride:
- The Organizations will be featured in the Rider Pack with their logo and a paragraph about each project and organization
- The representative from each organization will be given the opportunity to speak about their project throughout the weekend, probably at meals
- Representatives will have interest tables for lunch where they can sit and clearly be indentified and people can sit with them to learn more about the organization
- There will be a designated space in the dining hall for our finalists to set up displays and have information about their organization
